SchlummerMärchen creates personalised stories for your child, including text, an illustration and audio narration. Details such as their name, age, cuddly toy and favourite world help tailor each story to your child.
The stories are designed for children and take the saved age into account when choosing language and content. You can also choose a short, medium or long version. You decide whether a story suits your child's development and interests: read it through briefly before reading or listening together.
You can create stories in German or English. In your child's settings, choose a story language or leave it set to “Automatic”. With “Automatic”, the language currently selected for the interface is used when creating a story. The creation screen shows which language will be used. Changing the interface language does not translate existing stories.
Text, illustration and audio are created in several steps. The text appears as it is generated; the image and audio may take a little longer. The time needed depends on factors such as the chosen length and how busy the services are. Allow some time before reading together: we cannot guarantee a fixed completion time.
Yes. Silber, Gold and Platin include an AI-generated illustration for each story. Since text and images are created separately, the image may appear later. AI-generated images may depict details differently; you can regenerate the image once if needed.
You can regenerate the story text once. You can also regenerate the image once. These options are available on the story page. A new version may turn out differently, but cannot guarantee that every detail matches your expectations. If you encounter a technical error, our support team can help.
You can read the story yourself or play the audio narration. Your child does not need to look at the screen while listening. If you want to read together, read-along mode highlights the word being spoken and lets you adjust the text size and playback speed.
Yes. All three plans include audio narration for each story. You can play and pause it as soon as it is ready. The available voices depend on your plan. Of course, you can also read the story yourself.
Each new story is generated from your details. Different categories and themed worlds add variety. Similar themes or phrases can still occur in AI-generated stories. With Platin, you can also provide your own theme or continue an existing story.
Before starting, you can choose a short, medium or long story and agree with your child how many stories you will read today. The lengths are approximate; the actual duration also depends on the reading speed. The app can support a calm end to the evening, but cannot guarantee it.
You can use the audio narration and listen together with your child. That way, you can still be there without having to read yourself. It helps to create the story a little earlier so the audio is ready for your shared story time.
Generation takes the child's age and your chosen details into account. Even so, AI can produce unsuitable content. Check the story before using it and skip or replace passages that might frighten your child. There is no guarantee against nightmares or that your child will fall asleep faster. Stories are generated from your details rather than simply selected from a fixed collection. This creates personalised versions for your child. However, we cannot guarantee a globally unique plot or entirely original wording in AI-generated content.
We process account details and the information you save about children and loved ones to provide stories and other features. External service providers are involved in creating text, images and audio. Only provide information you want to use for personalisation, and do not enter sensitive details in free-text theme fields.
Our privacy policy explains which data is processed, which providers are involved, and the applicable retention periods and rights. Technical safeguards do not amount to an absolute security guarantee.
All plans let you choose story categories. With Platin, you can also enter your own themes, such as a first day at school or an adventure with dinosaurs. Your input guides the AI; the exact result may vary.
ChatGPT can also write personal stories, continue them, create images and give spoken responses. With memory enabled, it can use information from earlier conversations.
SchlummerMärchen takes care of the preparation: save your child's details and choose a themed world without writing your own prompt. The story text, illustration and audio narration belong together. Read-along mode highlights the word being spoken and lets you adjust text size and playback speed.
With regular plans, Gold and above let loved ones and pets take part. You can also include them while your free story is still available. Platin additionally offers custom themes and continuations. See the pricing page for current features.
SchlummerMärchen also uses AI. Its advantage is a simple workflow for your shared story time. You still decide which content suits your child.
Save your child's details once and reuse them for more stories. Text, illustration and audio are available directly on the story page. You can read aloud, listen together or use read-along mode. Depending on your plan, loved ones, custom themes and continuations are also available. You can email us your ideas and feedback at any time.
Yes. After registering, you can create one free story without subscribing. This does not automatically start a paid subscription. If you want to create more stories afterwards, choose a plan. Accounts without a subscription have a limited retention period; see the question about automatic account deletion below for details.
Payments are processed through Stripe. You can see which payment methods are available for your purchase at checkout. The selection may vary by country, device and billing arrangement. The options shown at checkout are the ones available to you.
Choose Silber, Gold or Platin with monthly or annual billing. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. You can request cancellation in your account area and confirm it using the link sent by email. Check the end date in the cancellation confirmation; you can use the subscription until then.
Cancelling a subscription does not delete your account. The contractual rules on duration and notice periods are set out in the terms of use. Information about the right of withdrawal and when it expires for digital content is available in the withdrawal policy.
Yes. In the website's account area, you can open plan management and review a change. Before confirming, check the displayed prices, billing details and when the change takes effect. Switching to a cheaper plan does not automatically mean an immediate refund. If the displayed billing details are unclear, contact us before switching.
There are exactly three plans:
- Silber: Personalised stories with a choice of category, an illustration and standard audio narration.
- Gold: Adds loved ones and pets, as well as a premium voice.
- Platin: Also lets you enter custom themes, choose individual voices for each child and continue stories.
Current prices, included allowances and billing options are listed on the pricing page.
Yes. Each regular plan includes one child in its base price. Additional children cost extra; currently, up to ten children in total are supported. Before adding a child, check the additional cost on the pricing page or in plan management. The free story is limited to one child.
Yes. You can choose an avatar in child management and change it later. You do not need to upload a photo of your child. An avatar helps you distinguish between children in the overview; it does not guarantee that every illustration will look exactly the same.
Loved ones include parents, grandparents or friends who can appear in your child's story. Pets can be included too. With regular plans, this feature is available from Gold onwards. You can also try it while your free story is still available. When creating a story, select up to five loved ones or pets to take part in that story.
First, check your internet connection and the displayed error message. Look in your story overview to see whether the story has already been saved before starting another creation. Also check whether your free story or subscription still allows you to create a story.
If the problem continues, email hallo@schlummermaerchen.de. Include the error message, approximate time, and your browser or device. Do not send passwords, payment details or unnecessary personal information about your child.
Yes. You can request account deletion in your account settings and explicitly confirm it. This also ends any active subscription. User content is scheduled for deletion after a waiting period of 30 days; it cannot be recovered after final deletion.
Different retention periods may apply to data subject to legal retention requirements. See the privacy policy for details. Cancelling a subscription alone does not delete your account.
If you have never had a subscription, automatic deletion is generally scheduled for 30 days after registration. If you use your free story, the period starts from that use. Accounts with a current or previous subscription, as well as accounts explicitly granted permanent access, are excluded from this automatic deletion. You do not need to take out a new subscription solely to keep an account that previously had one.
Use across up to two households is allowed under the terms of use. This includes, for example, separated parents or an additional household of grandparents who regularly read aloud. Sharing with more than two households, or with neighbours and friends outside the family arrangements specified there, is not allowed.
